Ein sehr kurzweiliger und wirklich guter Vortrag des Dirigenten Itay Talgam über die Wege, einem Team die Möglichkeit zu geben, seine Stärken auszuspielen. Er erläutert dies sehr eindruckvoll (und unterhaltsam) am Beispiel berühmter Dirigenten.

Valtech mit neuem Eigentümer

Lt. Veröffentlichung vom Dienstag besitzt SiegCo nun über 50% der Valtech Anteile und das Board wurde entsprechend der Übernahmevereinbarung umgestaltet.

Ich persönlich bin froh das die 50% schnell überschritten wurden denn damit ist die volle Handlungsfähigkeit – die ja bei einer Übernahme immer etwas leidet – nun schnell wiederhergestellt und wir können mit Volldampf voraus gehen.

Deutscher Thesaurus und Deutsch-Englisch Wörterbuch als Plugins für OS X

Gerade gefunden:

Einen deutschen Thesaurus (auf Basis von OpenThesaurus) und ein Deutsch-Englisch Wörterbuch (auf Basis des Beolingus.de Bestandes) für Macintosh, Dictionary.app. Das fehlte.

Die automatisierte Installation des Thesaurus hat bei mir nicht funktioniert aber die manuelle Installation ist einfach genug.

Coding Dojo Update

This is a follow-up to http://blogs.valtech.com/ino/2009/07/29/intrested-in-a-coding-dojo-in-the-rhineland/

A few people, both from within Valtech and from the world aorund us, have expressed intrest to go-ahead with the Dojo.

The current concern is due to the fact that we don’t have anyone around who has been to one of the few other dojos we might not be able to ‘caputure the spritit’. What we have planned to do is
* get in touch with the Paris Dojo and have a quick conference call (through Skype or iChat) to get an idea how ‘a proper dojo should feel like’ – these type of things that aere difficult to grasp when written down. Maybe hear some anecdotes That should be fairly straightforward as I am already in touch with some of the Paris Dojo regulars – which are also Valtech by coincidence.

* Have a short (90min) Dojo experiment at our next Jour Fixe, which is going down next week.

Afterwards, we should be as ready as we possibly could be to schedule a first regular dojo, presumably in January as people are going into christmas holidays.

…at least that is my recommendation if you happened to try the november release of FitNesse and found the performance (severely) lacking. The EDGE build dated Nov 25 works like a charm.

You are looking at a dissected Valtech Stress Ball these inevitably show up in sizable quantities on all our projects. Ehm, that came out wrong. It’s because we usually do (and like) challenging projects.

I for example live on coffee, adrenalin andawesomeness.

or for that matter all mind-mapping applications that I know.

Although it offers a really nice, effective and lightweight way of _structuring_ concepts, my problem right now is that I can not use it because I can not force the concepts in a simplistic tree.
In my head the concepts pop up in different places depending on the context or point-of-view one is currently looking at. What I’d like to have is something where I can mesh concepts (and actual text) in 1..n qualified graphs – depending on the point of view / context / focus, without re-creating relations (simple aggregations or level of details) in various documents.
All this with an UI that is not getting in the way (aka I am looking neither for a Wiki not a Microsoft product)
